Tiny Post Earrings

I have a love for all things tiny--if it's miniature or petite in any way, I probably have a crush on it.  This definitely holds true with this collection of tiny stud earrings.  They're subtle enough that they could easily be worn every day, but are a fun, whimsical departure from my staple pearl earrings (I haven't taken them off since high school graduation...literally).

Hello Again!

Apologies for being MIA for a few weeks, the magazine day job has been keeping me very busy! I haven't just been moping around ignoring my blogging duties...athough this shot makes that seem mighty tempting.  Iin a perfect world there would be a giant plate of baklava and some good wine on the nightstand.

Nymphenburg

I've written about my fascination with Nymphenburg porcelain before, and these new pieces don't disappoint.   While I usually think of porcelain as being stuffy and totally outdated, these are whimsical and fresh while still feeling classic.

You have to have a look at the amazing hand painting that goes into these pieces.  It's truly mesmerizing.

Charm Necklace

Everyone at the magazine seems to have one of these brilliant little charm-holder pendants.  These simple pieces (please stay away from the gaudy dolphin or grandma themed versions) are a refined way to wear more than one pendant at once.  Plus, I wouldn't mind an excuse to start buying a few gold charms here and there.

The basic pendant holder.
Gold pendant holder, $49, Amazon.com

I think this is the sweetest charm.  It looks like a simple letter, until you slide them apart to reveal the hidden love note.
Spread the Love, $140, Charm Co.

The most adorable way to mark a special day.
Custom Calendar, $375, Charm Co.

I'll add the charm from my favorite new necklace to the collection as well.  It's simple, dainty and will add just a bit of sparkle to the assortment.

You can engrave the inside of this passport with your favorite travel spots or a special message.

The oddest charm I came across...a gold rotisserie chicken.  Wow.

Betty Sherrill's NYC apartment

Betty Sherrill's NYC duplex has just the right amount of chintzy fluff to make it stately, but the unexpectedly bright colors and mix of patterns and finishes make it perfectly eclectic.  This top interior designer's apartment feels curated rather than decorated and has stood the test of time - it hasn't been re-done in more than 40 years!

Mrs. Sherrill in her living room.  The angular red table is an ideal counterpoint to the soft lines and flounce around it.

My eye is immediately caught by the painting over the fireplace.  I was expecting an idyllic pastoral scene in oils, but love the abstract piece instead (still in a gold frame, natch).

Love the zebra chairs and the Impala bust - this room has an UES meets safari feel.

Cluttered, but in the best way possible.

The subtly patterned wallpaper adds just enough interest to this hall without being overwhelming.

Fully feminine and sweet (I still love pink walls), but probably not a look my better half would go for in our bedroom.

Over the knee boots

I logged on to Bergdorf Goodman's site this afternoon and my heart stopped when I saw their fall trends - and over the knee boots was front and center!  It's easy for these to feel a bit too vampy (read: lady of the night-ish), especially the thigh-high varieties, but I think with simple lines and quality materials they come off as sleek and sophisticated. I will take one of each please...

Riding Boots

My love for riding boots is no secret, and after months of unsuccessful searching, I've decided to go straight to the source.  Admittedly, they're more expensive than an 'off the rack' pair in a department store,  but I think they're infinitely more chic and refined.  Hopefully one day I'll splurge for a custom pair.

Tony Duquette

I'm finding iconic interior designer Tony Duquette's over the top nouveau-Baroque style really inspirational.  It's way to embellished for my taste, but it's total eye candy to see such dense layering of textures and materials and rich colors.
